Whether it is a patient or that patient’s spouse, neighbor or parent, gifts to the Jamestown Regional Medical Center Foundation benefit this community.

There are 55,000 reasons to support JRMC. And each of them lives in Jamestown and the surrounding communities.

Every year, gifts to JRMC pay for machines to help people breathe, swaddles to warm babies, and preventative screenings for people who otherwise could not afford it.

Just this year, more than 300 members of the community supported the purchase of a $100,000 robot. That robot, R.O.S.I.E., the Xenex LightStrike, zaps hard-to-kill germs that even the best cleaning team cannot disinfect. R.O.S.I.E. will help not only the 3,000 individuals who have surgery at JRMC every year, but their husbands, wives, moms and dads too.

“You can count on JRMC to ensure each gift fulfills our vision of being the best rural hospital in the country,” said Lisa Jackson, JRMC Foundation Director. “We care about the people in this community. They’re our moms, dads, sons and daughters too.”

In any given year, about 1,200 people donate more than $500,000 to the JRMC Foundation. In 2018, that money helped pay for a care cart for hospice families, chaplain services, new lab equipment, toys and books for the children of families at JRMC and the medical bills of families grieving the death of their infant.

And soon, that money will pay for cancer care in Jamestown. When it moved to its new location, Jamestown Regional Medical Center promised oncology services to the community. The JRMC Cancer Center will support the 100 or so families already traveling for chemotherapy each month. The cancer center will also reduce travel and support families for generations to come.

Your gift touches 55,000 people. Here’s how to help.

Attend an event. This summer is packed with ways to support cancer care, infant bereavement and state-of-the-art healing equipment.

  • Concert for Care:  5 p.m., Thursday, July 26. Proceeds benefit critical needs at Anne Carlsen Center and Jamestown Regional Medical Center.
  • Golf “fore” ANGELS:  9 a.m., Saturday, August 4. Proceeds benefit the A.N.G.E.L.S. fund, which advocates for neonatal grief and early loss support.
  • Summer Raffle:  Purchase $20 tickets at any summer event or the Foundation. Prizes include a winner’s choice vacation valued at $3.500, $500 cash or a case of beer each month for a year.

Volunteer. More than 100 men, women and students volunteer to plan events, welcome guests, prepare patient packets or simply call individuals who may be lonely and say “hello.”

Consider a gift. Many donors to JRMC Foundation support activities that are meaningful to them – grateful patients often make a gift in gratitude for the good care they have received while other donors make gifts in memory of loved ones. Staff members or physicians often choose to make a gift in tribute to a former mentor or in appreciation for their work environment. Ways to do that include:

  • Life income gifts
  • Gifts of Grain
  • Gifts of Securities
  • Memorials or Tributes
  • ND Tax Credit
