Jamestown Regional Medical Center announced Becky Silberg as its most recent Legend Award recipient.

The Legend Award is the most prestigious distinction for a JRMC employee. The Legend Award recognizes employees who exceed expectations and are THE difference in the lives of those they serve.

Shelly Fercho, Patient Accounts Clerk, nominated Silberg, a JRMC Nutrition Aide. Fercho nominated Silberg because of her thoughtfulness especially for those who have served our country.

“I was in the breakfast line in the cafeteria and Becky was waiting on an older veteran,” Fercho said. “The cap he wore showed this proudly. He reached for his wallet and she told him there was ‘no charge’ since he served our country.”

JRMC’s 350 employees cast anonymous votes to select each Legend Award winner.

The purpose of the Legend Award is to inspire, motivate and capture the moments that define JRMC. The goal is to help employees and volunteers connect to the sense of purpose that brought them to the organization. This award is for employees who’ve made extreme efforts to benefit their patients and colleagues.

“The nominations inspire staff members to continually be THE difference in the lives of those we serve,” said JRMC President & CEO Mike Delfs.

Once nominated, both JRMC administration and employees vote on their favorite nominees and their stories.

“Silberg told me both her father and husband have served our country and this is that least they deserve,” Fercho said. “Becky is a very thoughtful person and it truly shows! She is ‘my’ legend.”

The Legend Award first began in 2012. Since then, more than 35 individuals have been named Legends and more than 110 employees were nominated.

For Those Who Have Served

“This week, I was in the breakfast line in the cafeteria,” Fercho said.

“Becky was waiting on an older veteran,” Fercho said. “The cap he wore showed this proudly. He reached for his wallet and she told him there was “no charge” since he served our country. He thanked her kindly. She told me both her father and husband have served our country and that is the least they deserve.”

“This is not the first time this has happened. My father-in-law was treated the same several months ago. He commented what a nice lady she was! Becky is a very thoughtful person and it truly shows! She is ‘my’ legend.”

Becky you are an inspiration. Thank you Becky for being THE difference at JRMC!
