A day of “awesome” walk-in interviews resulted in two hires at Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC).

Like all employers, recruiting and hiring can be a challenge, said Lesley Erlandson, JRMC Human Resources Manager. To fill open positions, JRMC hosted a “Catch Awesomeitis” interview blitz on Monday, Jan. 30. “Catch Awesomeitis’” goal was to specifically hire patient access clerks, Erlandson said.

“The patient access clerk position is a great opportunity for anyone who loves helping people,” said Patient Access Manager Victoria Rangel. “If you’ve ever considered a career in healthcare, this is a great place to start. It’s a rewarding career with opportunities to advance and grow. We encouraged people to stop in, see us and learn what legendary looks like. We still have room if people couldn’t make the January event.”

Patient access clerks are the first to welcome employees, guests and patients to JRMC. Their role is to help individuals register for care, navigate the building and record payments. Starting pay is $15.50 per hour and sign-on bonuses are available.

Labor challenges have impacted all industries, including healthcare, said JRMC President & CEO Mike Delfs. The interview blitz was JRMC’s effort to combat those shortages.

“Hiring two new difference makers is great news,” he said. “We look forward to onboarding and welcoming them to the team. Recruiting new employees in this way is innovative – and JRMC prides itself on that. Innovation has helped us maintain both independent and award-winning care for nearly 100 years. Innovation meant we were the first in the state to offer 3D mammography and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. This supports JRMC’s ability to attract talented surgeons and secure technology”

BEST PLACE TO WORK

Modern Healthcare named JRMC a Best Place to Work in 2022, the fifth time since 2017. The National Rural Health Association named JRMC a Top 20 Critical Access Hospital in 2022, for the third consecutive year.

“Five Best Places to Work awards can’t be wrong,” Rangel said. “Our employees function together to provide excellent care to our patients. We make a great team.”

Though the “Catch Awesomeitis” interview blitz concluded, JRMC continues to welcome new employees to the team – in patient access and all departments.
