Nearly 100 people raised more than $2,000 at the September Tea for all Seasons.

Tea for all Seasons is an annual Auxiliary event to benefit the littlest patients at Jamestown Regional Medical Center. JRMC’s Family BirthPlace welcomes about 350 babies each year. The facility is the only one in 100 miles to deliver babies.

The Tea’s funding supplies Halo Sleep Sacks to new parents and educational information on Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

“We dress new babies in sleep sacks during their stay and then each baby is sent home with a new sleep sack for use at home. Along with the sleep sacks, parents receive information on preventing SIDS and rebreathing,”  said JRMC Family BirthPlace Manager Emily Woodley.

“We are fortunate to provide these for every newborn. Safe sleep practices are something we are passionate about and we are grateful for this support.”

The North Dakota Department of Health named JRMC the state’s first hospital to receive a gold-level distinction for Safe Sleep practices in 2018.

Tea for all Seasons includes sandwiches, tea and desserts. The event also featured the Jamestown Quilters Display, JRMC Gift Shoppe Style Show and a silent auction.

LEGACY OF GIVING

The Auxiliary’s 40 members proudly serve as ambassadors between the hospital and the community through increased community awareness and fundraising initiatives. In its history, the Auxiliary has raised nearly $450,000.

“In almost 100 years, the Auxiliary has had three new beginnings,” JRMC Foundation Director Lisa Jackson said. “The start of the hospital, after World War II and now after the pandemic. Although the Auxiliary continued to meet, the group lost so much by not being able to host events and volunteer. And JRMC did too. It is nostalgic and heartwarming to see these women, many of whom have served as auxilians for decades, not give up.”

The Auxiliary meets the first Monday of each month. Together, the group facilitates events like Tea for all Seasons and other fundraisers. Proceeds benefit Family BirthPlace, the JRMC Cancer Center and the future of patient care. In addition, Auxiliary members manage the JRMC Gift Shoppe.
