Jason Schaffer, Jamestown High School Class of 2001
Job title & description: “I’m the JRMC Radiology Manager. In radiology, we perform x-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound and Nuclear Medicine which aide the physician in diagnosing the patient. I work closely with receptionists, technologists and radiologists to assure that we provide high quality imaging services and an excellent patient experience. I’m also really proud to work at an organization that’s on the cutting edge of technology. JRMC was the first hospital in N.D. to offer 3D Mammography. Just this summer, JRMC installed one of the highest tech and lowest dose CT scanners in the state.
What brought you to JRMC?: “I returned to Jamestown to be closer to family and to work at a facility that provides excellent patient care.”
What’s your advice to students starting school this fall?: “Don’t worry if you don’t have your mind made up of what you want to do with the rest of your life. At the same time, make sure you put a good amount of thought into what interests you. One of the things that drew me to a career in healthcare was the many paths I was going to have the opportunity to take over the course of my career. I liked that I could do patient care, education, administration, sales, or equipment design, just to name a few things.”
