Pit Stop Sports and Dave and Dr. Mandy Sorlie hosted the highly successful second annual Angels & Saints Axe of Love Tournament, which raised $9,500 for families experiencing infant loss.

The Advocating for Neonatal Grief and Early Loss Support (ANGELS) fund was established in 2015 by Dave and Dr. Mandy Sorlie. It provides financial assistance to families dealing with infant loss. To date, the fund has aided 25 local families with medical costs at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.
On April 24, 2024, the second annual Axe of Love Tournament featured axe throwing, cornhole, virtual golf and other activities. This attracted widespread community support.
“We are overwhelmed by the generosity and compassion shown by all who participated in and contributed to this event,” said Tonya Perkins, the foundation director of JRMC. “The funds raised will immediately impact families facing unimaginable circumstances.”
The tournament’s success underscores the community’s commitment to supporting causes that profoundly affect families.

“The ANGELS fund is a testament to the power of community,” said Dr. Sorlie. “When Dave and I established this fund, we hoped to alleviate some of the financial burden for families. We never could have imagined the outpouring of support and how many lives would be touched. Our community continues to amaze us with their kindness and goodwill.”
The ANGELS fund provides resources for bereavement services, memorial items, and other necessities. JRMC extends heartfelt thanks to sponsors, volunteers, and all participants for making this year’s Axe of Love Tournament the most successful yet. Together, JRMC and the community are making a difference in the lives of families when they need it most.
