The new year is here. So is Jamestown’s New Year, New You wellness challenge.
The eight-week wellness challenge encourages participants to develop positive lifestyle changes.
Each week, Jamestown Regional Medical Center has a point bank for participants to choose from. As a result, participants may select as many items within the point bank in an attempt to earn as many points as possible.
During week one, participants were challenged to take the NYNY pre-challenge survey. The five to 10-minute survey asks basic questions. For example, “How many fruits and vegetables do you consume?” and “How would you rank your quality of life?” Completing the survey earns five points for participants. Participants are also challenged to complete a post-challenge survey in March. This allows JRMC to measure the challenge’s success. The pre-challenge survey closes at midnight on Sunday, Jan. 12.
Also, new to NYNY are chances to earn points for trying signature NYNY healthy recipes, workout video demonstrations and Better Me Bingo, which takes place last four weeks. In addition, participants will receive complimentary two-week fitness trials to local fitness centers including Anytime Fitness, I Will Fitness & Training, Legacy Fitness & Yoga, New Age Fitness and Two Rivers Activity Center.
Finally, participants are challenged to special workouts. Lose Your Lap workouts are short and simple. The Lose Your Lap workouts can be easily included in a 15-minute break at the office or when running errands and waiting in line. High-Intensity Interval Training workouts are more intense. However, the entire HIIT workout can be completed in less than 20-minutes.
