Tea, treats and sweets support the littlest patients at Jamestown Regional Medical Center. The JRMC Auxiliary’s Tea for all Seasons is set for 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 13.

The afternoon includes sandwiches, tea and desserts. The event will also feature the Jamestown Quilters Display, JRMC Gift Shoppe Style Show and a silent auction. Tickets are $10 per person. They are available for purchase from any Auxiliary member, at the JRMC Gift Shoppe or the day of the event.

All proceeds benefit JRMC Family BirthPlace equipment. Each year, FBP welcomes about 350 babies to Jamestown and the surrounding region. JRMC is the only facility in a 100-mile radius to deliver babies.

In 2018, Tea for all Seasons raised about $2,200.

“The Auxiliary is passionate about supporting babies and families. We are also passionate about our community,” said Marlene Axtman, Auxiliary member. Axtman chairs the Tea event.

The Auxiliary proudly serves as ambassadors between the hospital and the community through increased community awareness and fundraising initiatives. The 40 or so members welcome attendees to wear hats, dresses and tea-time attire.

“Each year, Tea for all Seasons continues to grow,” Axtman said. “We’re grateful to see everyone’s faces again, especially since we had to temporality pause these events because of the pandemic.”

In its history, the group has raised $442,500 for patient care.

TIME, TALENT, TREASURE

“As a community, we all benefit from the generosity of the Auxiliary and its time, talent and treasure,” said Foundation Director Lisa Jackson. “Whether it is supporting moms and babies, cancer patients or guests in our building, the Auxiliary ensures JRMC remains a vibrant, caring and compassionate destination for care in the region.”

While JRMC continues to grow, other organizations like it have reduced services or even closed.

“We have a very, very special hospital here. And because of supporters like the Auxiliary, I don’t see that changing anytime soon,” Jackson said.

The Auxiliary meets the first Monday of each month. Together, the group facilitates events like Tea for all Seasons each year. In addition, Auxiliary members manage the JRMC Gift Shoppe. Proceeds benefit Family BirthPlace, the JRMC Cancer Center and the future of patient care.
