Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) continues to demonstrate its dedication to community health and wellness by donating two Game Ready cold and compression therapy units to the Jamestown High School (JHS) athletic training department. As the official sports medicine team for Blue Jay Athletics, JRMC’s donation reflects a shared commitment to student-athlete care and recovery.
Thanks to contributions made through the JRMC Foundation, the physical therapy department was able to purchase two new Game Ready units. Rather than auction off the previous equipment, the team chose to donate the used units and accompanying hip sleeves to the JHS athletic training department to benefit local student-athletes, replacing equipment at the school that was no longer suitable for use.

“JRMC is proud to serve as the official sports medicine team for Jamestown Public Schools athletics. With the generous support of the JRMC Foundation, we’ve been able to invest in advanced equipment like the Game Ready Units — tools that will benefit both our patients at JRMC and the athletes at Jamestown High School,” said Tracy Anderson, manager of JRMC Rehabilitation. “It’s a great example of how collaboration can enhance care, recovery and performance across our community.”

The Game Ready control unit integrates two therapies — cold and compression — to help reduce pain and inflammation while effectively improving recovery. The system controls the applied temperature, minimizing the risk of frostbite or injury associated with using ice along, through a wrap to apply even cold coverage and compression to the affected area. Whether used for sore student-athletes in recovery or physical therapy patients at JRMC rehabilitation, the system helps accelerate recovery for injured knees, calves, hips and backs.

“Athletes have been asking for new equipment like this to help with back and hip injuries, so we are very thankful to JRMC Rehabilitation and the Foundation for making it possible to meet this need,” said Shawnee Hansen, one of JRMC’s athletic trainers at JHS. “This gift shows that JRMC is always there to support JHS.”

JRMC’s distinction as the official sports medicine team for Blue Jay Athletics holds weight for the medical center. Through this collaboration, JRMC and JHS work together to keep the Blue Jay student-athletes safe, healthy and confident. In addition to certified athletic trainers, the Blue Jay teams have immediate access to JRMC’s orthopedic and rehabilitation professionals.

“It is so beneficial for our athletes to be able to receive direct referrals to JRMC’s physical therapy network. Working with the orthopedic team has also been a huge benefit — especially having them present at games for high-contact sports,” Hansen said. “If anything happens, they’re right there — their support is incredibly appreciated.”
