Jamestown Regional Medical Center ranked No. 62 in the Provider/Insurer category of Modern Healthcare’s Best Places to Work for 2022.
This is the fifth year Modern Healthcare has named JRMC to its list of Best Places to Work in healthcare nationwide.
Lab Lead Sasha Krapp, Radiology Manager Jason Schaffer, Radiologic Technologist Renae Berg and Registered Nurse Chris Freeman accepted the award at the Best Places to Work conference on Thursday, Sept. 29 in Nashville, Tenn.
“I was one of the only registered nurses to accept the award,” Freeman said. “In most cases, Chief Executive Officers accepted the award on behalf of their organizations. That says something about the culture at JRMC.”
LEGENDARY CULTURE
The JRMC culture values each employee and his or her role.
“Our work is not for awards or praise, however, we are grateful for the recognition,” said Mike Delfs, JRMC President & CEO. “Our teams are legendary. They are what make JRMC a destination for care in the region.”
The award is an honor, he said. Most importantly, the award is a demonstration of how JRMC is a great place to build a career and an organization the community can trust.
“A best place to work award is a great indicator that we are also a best place to receive care,” Delfs said.
The Modern Healthcare award is one of several JRMC received this year. In 2022, the National Rural Health Association also named JRMC a Top 20 Critcal Access Hospital again. This is the third time JRMC has received that award since 2019. In 2022, Prairie Business Magazine also recognized JRMC as a Best Place to Work in the region.
“We are grateful for each of our employees,” Delfs said. “Since 2020, they’ve cared for the community through staffing and pandemic-related challenges. Nevertheless, they are dedicated to offering legendary care right here in the North Dakota heartland.”
ABOUT THE AWARD
Each year, 150 organizations receive Modern Healthcare’s Best Places to Work award. The award is based on how well they “empower employees to provide patients and customers with the best possible care, products and services.” The program recognizes the top workplaces in healthcare. Specifically, it recognizes those that go above and beyond to support their staff, empowering them to provide the best possible care, products and services.
The Best Places to Work designation honors organizations that create a value-based culture of high-performing and resilient teams. At JRMC, it reinforces the medical center’s vision to be the best rural hospital in the country for patients to receive care, providers to practice and employees to work.
“This designation highlights our team’s commitment to our patients and community,” said Lesley Erlandson, human resources manager. “Prospective employees can expect rewarding work, fair compensation and a culture that values them.”
According to survey responses, employees report that they most love that JRMC offers quarterly forums and leadership development opportunities. They also appreciate leadership rounding on departments as well as JRMC’s transparency and communication.
