In an effort to educate and empower the community about prostate health, Jamestown Regional Medical Center invites the public to attend JRMC U: Understanding BPH & Prostate Cancer, a free seminar focused on the latest advances in diagnosing and treating common prostate conditions. Led by JRMC’s experienced Urologist, Dr. Brent Williams, the session will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 11 a.m. to noon at the Two Rivers Activity Center (TRAC).

The seminar will cover essential insights into prostate health, specifically benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostate cancer—conditions impacting millions of men annually. Dr. Williams will shed light on risk factors, symptoms and screening methods, including the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test, which aids in early detection. This information is invaluable for those navigating prostate health decisions and seeking clarity on proactive screening for better long-term outcomes.

“Early detection is crucial in managing prostate health and understanding the symptoms and available treatments can make a significant difference,” said Mercede Fiebiger, JRMC Specialty Clinic Manager. “This event is a great opportunity for individuals to gain practical knowledge and feel more confident in consulting healthcare providers about their urological health.”

In addition to an overview of diagnostic tools, Dr. Williams will delve into treatment options for BPH, which can cause symptoms like frequent urination and bladder issues and discuss prostate cancer care and prostatitis management. The session is designed to foster open conversation, encouraging attendees to ask questions about symptoms, treatment options and the importance of timely medical advice.
