On Saturday, June 8, R.M. Stoudt hosted the 17th annual Running of the Pink (RoP) 5k and 10k walk/run. Over 650 participants, including virtual runners, raised approximately $62,500 to support removing barriers to women’s health screenings. Funds raised go to Jamestown Regional Medical Center and Central Valley Health District in their delivery of No Excuses and Women’s Way programs.

“We are overwhelmed by the community’s support of the Running of the Pink,” said Tonya Perkins, JRMC Foundation Director. “Because of the generosity of our sponsors, runners, walkers, donors and volunteers, we can help women in our region access breast health resources and other screenings that could detect cancer early and save lives.”

Team JRMC participated in the 17th annual Running of the Pink event June 8 to support women’s health.

In addition to increasing access, Running of the Pink helps initiate discussions surrounding women’s health. OB/GYN Dr. Emily Stromquist, Dr. McAdoo and Nurse Practitioner Makenzie Breitbach are all part of the comprehensive OB/GYN team at JRMC.

OB/GYNs provide care applicable to every stage and phase of a woman’s life – beginning with menstrual cycles and continuing through menopause and encompassing fertility, contraception and reproductive health.

Women’s Way provides income-based access to breast and cervical cancer screenings and is coordinated locally by Central Valley Health District. The No Excuses program at JRMC helps cover expenses associated with preventative screenings like mammograms and pap tests and is not limited to income guidelines. Through the community’s generosity, these programs strive to make these important services accessible for uninsured and underinsured women throughout the local area, regardless of their financial means.

“This year, we not only broke a record in the number of participants and the amount of money raised, but we also witnessed an outpouring of community spirit and support,” stated the event’s coordinator Jamie Walton “The success of the Running of the Pink is a testament to our shared dedication to women’s health. We are overjoyed with the community’s turnout and look forward to even greater achievements in the future!”

R.M. Stoudt and Running of the Pink have raised $235,646 in support of JRMC’s No Excuses program and over $300,000 for care throughout the region in total from this event.
