Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) recently announced K.C. Robison as its most recent Legend Award recipient.
The Legend Award is the most prestigious distinction for a JRMC employee. The Legend Award recognizes employees who exceed expectations and make THE difference in the lives of those they serve.
JRMC Admissions Clerk, Lori Vondal, nominated Robison, a registered nurse in the JRMC Cancer Center, because of his willingness to be THE difference by providing above and beyond quality care with patients by spending more time with them during a difficult time.
“K.C. Robison spent nearly 35 minutes with a patient that presented to the Cancer Center with a despiteful diagnosis,” Vondal said. “We all know this diagnosis affects a patient and their loved ones. ‘Cancer’ is always a horrible word to hear. Robison assured the patient that we are here to help him through this and that he should not stop living because of his diagnosis and just know his limits.”
“Robison is a very professional registered nurse, but yet very compassionate,” Vondal said.
JRMC’s 350 employees cast anonymous votes to select each Legend Award winner.
The purpose of the Legend Award is to inspire, motivate and capture the moments that define JRMC. The goal is to help employees and volunteers connect to the sense of purpose that brought them to the organization. This award is for employees who’ve made extreme efforts to benefit their patients and colleagues.
“The nominations inspire staff members to continually be the best, exceed expectations and make THE difference in the lives of those we serve,” said JRMC President & CEO, Mike Delfs.
Once nominated, both JRMC administration and employees vote on their favorite nominees and their stories.
“The JRMC Cancer Center is able to provide legendary care because K.C. is a difference maker,” said Patricia Kline, Specialty Clinic manager. “He’s a reliable and experienced registered nurse. We are grateful to have him as part of our team.”
The Legend Award first began in 2012. Since then, more than 35 individuals have been named Legends and more than 110 employees were nominated.
CREATING SMILES IN THE CANCER CENTER
“Robison is a very professional registered nurse, but yet very compassionate. I witnessed a side of him today, that working with him over the last year, I have never experienced from a nurse,” Vondal said. “And believe me, when I say I have worked in the medical field since the age of 16 and have worked with many ‘good’ nurses, I know that K.C. is an amazing nurse. I truly believe that he always goes above and beyond each and every day – because cancer is a hard word to hear.”
“Our patient left with a smile on his face and said with no hesitation, ‘I will see you on Wednesday for my treatment,'” Vondal said.
“I am so very grateful and truly blessed to be able to come to work each day and see the two awesome registered nurses that work in the JRMC Cancer Center. I couldn’t have asked for better coworkers because K.C., Garret Hillius and Nurse Practitioner Laura Bond make JRMC Cancer Center what it is today. They are THE difference,” said Vondal.
K.C. Robison, you inspire us to be better individuals. Thank you for being THE difference.
