Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) recently announced Renae Olson as its most recent Legend Award recipient.

The Legend Award is the most prestigious distinction for a JRMC employee, recognizing those who exceed expectations and are THE difference in the lives of those they serve.

Olson, an Endoscopy and Patient Care Technician, works in JRMCs Endoscopy/GI department. She was nominated for JRMC’s Legend Award by fellow nurse, Marcie Marler Maier.

“Renae is always willing to go above and beyond her role,” Maier wrote in her nomination. “She has dedicated many years to JRMC with true dedication and commitment.”

As a primary part of her role, Olson assists JRMC’s endoscopy department in managing their daily assignments, reviewing policies and facilitating education for all new endoscopy staff.

Olson is known to be a great resource for her coworkers, often lending a hand to different departments and always being available to answer questions. She is one of two employees at the medical center who can perform electrocephalograms (EEGs). An EEG is a test that measures electrical activity in the brain and is used to monitor several types of brain disorders including epilepsy and brain tumors. Her ability to administer these tests supports JRMC in providing all-encompassing medical care.

“Renae will do any job that is asked of her and does it exceptionally well,” shared Surgery Nurse Unit Manager Rhea Miller. “JRMC is very lucky to have such a kind, caring and hardworking employee.”

Olson’s willingness to go above and beyond to help patients and her coworkers demonstrates her kindness and dedication to serving our community. These traits contributed to her peers’ selection of her as JRMC’s latest Legend.

About the Legend Award

A legend is not created in a day. It takes consistent commitment to performing with selfless purpose. A legend commits every day — without concern for recognition — to being irreplaceable. JRMC employees nominate one another for the honor; voted on by the 350 medical center team members.

The purpose of the Legend Award is to inspire, motivate and capture the moments that define JRMC. The goal is to help employees and volunteers connect to the sense of purpose that brought them to the organization. This award is for employees who’ve made extreme efforts to benefit their patients and colleagues.

The Legend Award first began in 2012. Since then, employees have named more than 50 individuals as Legends and nominated nearly 150.
