Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) recently announced Krista Ames, reimbursement specialist in fiscal services, as its latest Legend Award recipient — the medical center’s highest employee honor.

The Legend Award celebrates JRMC team members who exceed expectations and whose work leaves a lasting, meaningful impact. Like the rings of a tree, each action taken in compassion, courage and commitment contributes to a legacy that endures.

Ames was by her colleague, Samantha Murray, who praised her leadership during a recent transition to a new electronic claims system.

“She keeps us all as informed as she can and brings us along for the trials and errors so we can learn alongside each other,” Murray wrote in her nomination.

Switching to a new claims system is no small task. It requires moving all electronic medical claims to a new platform. Even minor issues can cause delays in payments and impact patient accounts.

“In healthcare, this kind of change is a huge transition,” said Victoria Rangel, JRMC business office manager. “Any hiccup can affect reimbursement and, ultimately, our patients.”

In her day-to-day role, Ames ensures insurance claims are accurate and timely. She tracks accounts from start to finish, resolves issues and looks for ways to improve processes so the entire team can succeed.

“I honestly don’t know how we would manage without Krista,” said Murray. “The wealth of knowledge she has is priceless.”

Her dedication reflects JRMC’s mission to make a difference in the lives of patients and employees alike.
