Jamestown Regional Medical Center’s application to the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Pathway to Excellence® program has been approved.
The Pathway designation is a global credential that demonstrates JRMC’s commitment to fostering a healthy work environment where nurses feel empowered and valued. Nurses at JRMC play a vital role of the healthcare team and have a say in policy and practice decisions. Achieving the Pathway designation signifies that JRMC nurses are actively engaged, leading to higher job satisfaction, reduced turnover, improved safety and better patient outcomes.
“This journey is a testament to the incredible work of our nurses and reinforces JRMC’s commitment to being a leader in healthcare experience,” said Trisha Jungels, JRMC’s chief nursing officer and vice president.
JRMC has up to one year to finalize the application process before an ANCC survey determines if the designation has been achieved. Hospital leadership will continue to survey, communicate with and educate nursing staff until the final submission in August 2025.
“JRMC had already established the vast majority of Pathway standards into our practices and culture,” said Jillian Hildebrandt, clinical support manager & Pathway program director.
“Our team’s efforts have been more focused on communicating what already exists and enculturating our new nurses.”
JRMC informs nursing staff on the application process through an internal program called “Sweet Street.” This program uses a cart, nicknamed Sugar Rush, to deliver treats and highlight different aspects of the Pathway program throughout the medical center.
Once Pathway designated, JRMC will be a leader in enhancing quality of care, patient and nursing safety and the future of healthcare delivery. If designated, JRMC will join an elite group of critical access hospitals, being the only healthcare organization in North Dakota and one of fewer than 250 organizations worldwide to achieve this distinction.
