Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) recently announced Krista Ames as its most recent Legend Award recipient.

The Legend Award is the most prestigious distinction for a JRMC employee. The Legend Award recognizes employees who exceed expectations and are THE difference in the lives of those they serve.

Patient Accounts Clerk Michele Geigle nominated Ames, reimbursement specialist in Patient Financial Services. Ames is a “walking encyclopedia of knowledge,” Geigle wrote in the nomination.

“Krista voluntarily took on several new duties,” Geigle said. “Her work hours are typically 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. but Krista has been getting up at 4:30 a.m. and working from home, posting the electronic insurance payments. Then she comes into the office at 8 a.m. and tackles all her other job duties while patiently answering everyone’s questions and emails. Krista is a true leader and an employee that we should all strive to be like.”

Each quarter, JRMC’s 350 employees cast anonymous votes to select each Legend Award winner.

“Krista is a true asset,” said Victoria Rangel, Patient Financial Services Manager. “I wish I could clone her. We are fortunate to have her on our team. She is the definition of ‘legendary.’”

DIFFERENCE MAKERS

The purpose of the Legend Award is to inspire, motivate and capture the moments that define JRMC. The goal is to help employees and volunteers connect to the sense of purpose that brought them to the organization. This award is for employees who’ve made extreme efforts to benefit their patients and colleagues.

“The nominations inspire staff members to continually be the best, exceed expectations and make THE difference in the lives of those we serve,” said JRMC President & CEO, Mike Delfs. “Krista is so deserving. Because of her, we can better serve our patients and community.”

Once nominated, JRMC employees vote on their favorite nominees and their stories.

The Legend Award first began in 2012. Since then, more than 35 individuals have been named Legends and more than 110 employees were nominated.
