You have bought school supplies, registered for classes and prepped your locker or dorm room. But, are you prepared for any health issues that could arise this school year? JRMC and the U.J. Nursing Student Association are hosting an event. What’s Normal?: Teens, Tweens & the College Scene will be held Monday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m.

The event will be located at the University of Jamestown’s Orlady Hall. And, the event is free, fun, fresh and frank. Dr. Bailey Runkles, gynecologist and obstetrician, will discuss relevant health information for teenage and college-aged women.

“This is a great opportunity for young women to learn about their health in a laid-back way,” Dr. Runkles said. “Too often, women either don’t know what is going on with their bodies or are too uncomfortable to ask. That can certainly lead to an unpleasant health outcome. We would like to alleviate those by offering free educational opportunities like ‘What’s Normal?’.”

Additionally, the evening will begin with a presentation. After that, an anonymous question and answer session will take place. Topics may include but aren’t limited to abnormal or painful periods, contraception and cervical screenings.

In addition, pizza, refreshments and door prizes will be provided.

JRMC is hosting more women’s health conversations this fall. Located at Sabir’s Buffalo Grill, these events include:
