Visitor Expectations

VISITING HOURS

We know family members and friends are an important part of the team. JRMC is committed to the provision of safe, quality healthcare while recognizing and adapting to both the physical and psychosocial needs of you, your family and visitors. Visitation policies have been established to protect your rights to have rest and privacy as requested, as well as to keep you and visitors alike safe from communicable diseases.

JRMC believes in flexible visiting hours. We will work with you to arrange times for visiting that will help facilitate healing, while not interfere with the care being given. The number of visitors and length of visits may be limited. Family and friends may sometimes be asked to leave the room so care may be given with privacy or when you need to rest. We ask for your cooperation should an event such as this occur.

Children are allowed to visit the care units with approval of your nurse. Children who are sick or who may have been exposed to infectious diseases recently may not be allowed into the room. Excluding ill visitors is for your safety and the safety of other visitors as well.

Sometimes family members are afraid to leave the hospital. If your visitors are not sure whether you should go home, talk it over with the nurse caring for you. Visiting family members are encouraged to leave the hospital at night so you can rest. We encourage family members to stay active with their regular daily activities. Taking time to eat regular meals, exercise and get enough sleep will help visitors feel better and you heal faster. However, if your visitors don’t feel comfortable leaving the hospital while a loved one is here, we understand, and we will assist them with being comfortable in the most appropriate area.

While JRMC does not have rigid visiting hours, in the interest of safety and opportunity for valuable rest, the preferred visiting hours are 8 am to 6 pm any day of the week.

PATIENTS IN ISOLATION OR WITH PRECATIONS

The following precautions are enforced for visitors and family when a patient is in isolation precautions. We will notify you if this is necessary. Isolation precautions are special precautionary measures, practices and procedures used in the care of patients with contagious or communicable diseases.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provides very specific guidelines for control of the spread of infectious disease in the care of hospitalized patients. JRMC follows each of these guidelines. The type of infectious disease a patient has will dictate the kind of isolation precautions necessary to prevent the spread of the disease to others.

To most effectively protect your safety, all individuals visiting patients in isolation must:

  • wash your hands
  • be 13 years or older
  • wear personal protective equipment like gowns, gloves or masks
