My name is Mason Segall.
Jamestown Regional Medical Center admissions do not begin at 6 a.m. or 2:30 p.m.; we are a 24/7 support system starting as soon as a patient presents. I am honored to share my experience and gratitude for JRMC.
My shift doesn’t start normally like most admission clerks and staff here at JRMC. I start the coffee pot and I am out the door for my overnight shift beginning at 10:30 p.m. I am one of the emergency department’s overnight clerks. The shift begins with brightening hellos from my colleagues as I clock in. I am unsure if the shift is going to be a roller coaster or if the shift will be slow. I enjoy the moment of being surprised by how my shift is going to be.
Being an admissions clerk comes with challenges as well as benefits. The technology we have here at JRMC is outstanding. JRMC is one of the top hospitals in the metro. I have had patients thank me for my professionalism in challenging times in the emergency department. I also have had patients offer me gifts because they are thankful for my help. This is why I love what I do. My job doesn’t always call for coffee and magazines to keep me awake. I love the interaction with patients and guests as they enter the emergency department at 3 a.m. It’s what I love to do, and it’s why I am an admissions clerk.
