Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) recently announced Kirk Holdburg, a technician in the plant operations department, as its latest Legend Award recipient — the medical center’s highest employee honor.

The Legend Award celebrates JRMC team members who exceed expectations and whose work leaves a lasting, meaningful impact. Like the rings of a tree, each action taken in compassion, courage and commitment contributes to a legacy that endures.

Holdburg was nominated for the award by plant operations supervisor Joey Cotton, who praised his tireless dedication to ensuring the facility runs seamlessly.

“Kirk brings a wealth of knowledge from years of working on and maintaining building systems,” Cotton wrote in his nomination.

In his role, Holdburg is responsible for repairs and maintenance throughout the medical center. He often works nights and weekends to avoid disturbing patient care and staff operations. “He does this with no complaints, only saying it has to be done,” Cotton added.

This Legend Award presentation also marks an evolution of the award’s purpose — to spotlight the lasting legacies of those who go beyond their duties to strengthen the medical center and its mission.

To commemorate the award’s shift in purpose, JRMC unveiled a series of new honors, including a revamped traveling Legend trophy, custom badge reels for recipients and a legacy display capturing each honoree’s fingerprint — symbolizing their unique and enduring imprint on JRMC’s story.

Holdburg’s consistent dedication to others reflects JRMC’s mission to be the difference in the lives of those it serves.

Cotton puts it best: “Kirk has shown that he is the difference that helps to keep JRMC as one of the top rural hospitals in the country.”
