Mike Delfs, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC), was recently recognized for his leadership at both the national and state levels, highlighting his continued impact on rural healthcare.

Delfs was named one of Becker’s Hospital Review’s Critical Access Hospital Presidents and CEOs to Know for the seventh time. This distinction recognizes healthcare leaders who demonstrate a strong commitment to innovative care, patient safety and financial sustainability — particularly in the evolving and challenging rural healthcare landscape.

“It is an honor to be named among this prestigious list of CEOs to know,” Delfs said. “While I am grateful and humbled by this recognition, it ultimately reflects the outstanding leadership at Jamestown Regional Medical Center and their continued success in translating vision into action.”

In addition to Delfs’ inclusion in this national recognition, Delfs has been appointed chair of the North Dakota Hospital Association (NDHA) Board of Directors, effective Jan. 1. In this role, he will help guide the association’s efforts to advocate for North Dakota hospitals and health systems while advancing policies that support access to high-quality care across the state.

As CEO and president, Delfs oversees all clinical and nonclinical departments, ensuring operational excellence while maintaining quality outcomes and fiscal responsibility. He places strong emphasis on collaboration, recognizing the value of partnerships with physician groups and other healthcare organizations to provide the most advanced care as an independent medical center. Through these relationships, JRMC can offer advanced medical services locally that patients would otherwise need to travel to receive.

Under Delfs’ leadership, JRMC has earned several national recognitions, including being named a Top 20 Critical Access Hospital by the National Rural Health Association, a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital by Chartis Center for Rural Health and a Best Place to Work by Modern Healthcare.

Delfs’ appointment as NDHA board chair further reflects the respect he has earned among healthcare leaders statewide and underscores his role in shaping the future of rural healthcare in North Dakota.

“I am honored to serve as board chair of this impactful organization,” Delfs said. “The North Dakota Hospital Association plays a vital role in elevating the exceptional care provided by all 52 hospitals across the state while helping address the challenges of advancing innovation in both rural and urban communities.”

JRMC’s leadership continues to propel the medical center forward in its mission to meet and anticipate the evolving healthcare needs of the Jamestown community and surrounding region.
