Dr. Casey Totten is JRMC’s first-ever employed hospitalist. Not only does he participate in the inpatient care provided by the rotation of local family medicine physicians, he also assumes the new role of hospitalist medical director.

JRMC has been working for several years on models to enhance our inpatient services and ways to care for more complex conditions safely and consistently.

“Our goal is to continuously improve the quality and consistency of the care we provide. By bringing Dr. Totten on board, we are taking a significant step towards ensuring that our patients receive the best possible care, regardless of the complexity of their conditions,” states Trisha Jungels, JRMC Chief Nursing Officer.

Dr. Totten joins JRMC from Rudolph, Wisconsin, and has spent his career as a hospitalist, including intensive care unit (ICU) rotations. In his role at JRMC, Dr. Totten will shape a dedicated approach to hospital medicine delivery.

“I fell in love with inpatient medicine during my residency and never looked back. I look forward to bringing my years of knowledge and skills to the Jamestown community and JRMC,” states Dr. Totten.

Dr. Totten’s upbringing, education and career experience have all been in small community settings. Putting down roots in Jamestown matches his aim to ensure size and geography do not dictate the quality of care. He also happens to love duck hunting. His free time is spent with his dogs and their outdoor pursuits. Welcome, Dr. Totten.
