Q&A with Dr. Arndt

What inspired you to go into podiatric medicine?
What drew you to JRMC?
Everyone at JRMC and in the community has been so welcoming and kind. My mentor worked here about a decade ago and had nothing but great things to say. Even throughout the interview process I could tell how organized and exceptional this place is — the people, facility and equipment!
I am really looking forward to the outdoor activities in Jamestown too like golfing, fishing, hiking and maybe even trying ice fishing and coyote trapping.
Can foot and ankle issues affect other parts of the body if left untreated?
Yes! Your feet and ankles are literally the foundation of your body — foot and ankle health impacts your entire body’s biomechanics. Untreated podiatric issues can affect your knees, hips and back.
What is your relationship with technology in medicine?
I would consider myself very tech-savvy. During my residency, I was often the go-to tech person. I love integrating new technology into patient care — it is an incredible tool for making treatment more precise and efficient.
What advancements in podiatric care are you most excited about right now?
Minimally invasive surgery is one of the most exciting areas being developed right now. Procedures like minimally invasive Achilles repair or bunion correction allow for less pain and faster recovery. It’s the future of the field.
Are there things that I can do daily to improve or maintain my foot health?
How do I know if foot pain is just temporary discomfort or a sign that I should see a specialist?
If you are experiencing pain that lasts longer than a day or interferes with your daily life, it’s worth coming in. Early evaluation can prevent more serious problems down the line! Call (701) 952-4878 or make an appointment.
What would you say is your philosophy of care?
I want my patients to feel like we’re working together toward a common goal. Healing requires partnership, shared decision-making and respect.
