Empowering and educating people. That’s why Dr. Rachael Renschler studied medicine.
“I like patients to understand that they are in control of their health. And, that they are responsible for their health,” she said.
Dr. Rachael Renschler, a podiatrist, helps remove bunions and replace ankles. A career in medicine is something she’s wanted since childhood.
“I decided I wanted to be a doctor at church camp in fourth grade,” she said. “Maybe that was God telling me what to do,” she said with a smile.
Dr. Renschler attended college in her home state of Florida. She then studied medicine at the Des Moines University in Iowa. She believes firmly in serving the whole patient, not just the symptoms. That is why she joined Jamestown Regional Medical Center in January 2017. She appreciated the hospital’s mission, culture and state-of-the-art tools. And, the teamwork between departments.
“Everybody wants the same thing at JRMC. And, that is what’s best for the patient,” Dr. Renschler said.
Recruiting physicians is sometimes a struggle for rural hospitals. But Renschler, who lives in Fargo, chose JRMC because it felt right.
“I feel like a valued employee,” she said.
