Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) is hosting its next JRMC U at Two Rivers Activity Center (TRAC) on Thursday, Dec. 7. JRMC Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Michael T. Dean will present information on when surgery is recommended, how JRMC guides you through the preparation and what to expect from the procedure and recovery.
As we age, occasional joint pain is common, but when it becomes severe or persistent, it can start to limit mobility and reduce quality of life. Dr. Dean has replaced over 6,000 joints and specializes in helping patients reduce pain and regain mobility.
“Midwestern folks are tough. We put up with a lot of pain for a long time,” said Dr. Dean. “As techniques advance, recovery time from surgery is shortening. A little rest and rehab are a small exchange for the significant improvement in lifestyle most patients experience.”
Dr. Dean will present information to help attendees understand the source of most joint pain and some of the top reasons why replacement is recommended. Severe pain, limited mobility, chronic inflammation and even a visible deformity can all contribute to your healthcare decisions.
Orthopedics was added full-time at JRMC in 2011. Dr. Dean was the founding provider and has since cared for patients of all ages. He specializes in total joint replacements and revisions.
“Depending on your age at surgery, joints can last a lifetime and other times the benefits of replacement are apparent at an earlier age,” said Dr. Dean. “If a previous replacement needs a correction or an update, it’s called a revision.”
The Dec. 7 JRMC U will cover common joint issues like arthritis, injuries and overuse, and provide you with no-nonsense information on procedure techniques, safety and outcomes.
JRMC welcomes both men and women to attend. Pre-registration is optional but appreciated. Visit jrmcnd.com/U or call (701) 952-5301 to reserve your space.
