For the fourth year in a row, Jamestown Regional Medical Center has been named one of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the United States. JRMC was awarded by iVantage Health Analytics and The Chartis Center for Rural Health.

“This achievement is very gratifying. It certainly validates JRMC’S commitment to provide the best healthcare possible for our community,” said JRMC Chief Executive Officer K.C. DeBoer.

BEHIND THE AWARD

Across the United States, 1,332 hospitals qualify as a Critical Access Hospital (CAH). This designation was created by Congress in 1997 to improve healthcare access in rural areas. JRMC has maintained its critical access designation since 2009.

JRMC scored in the Top 100 of Critical Access Hospitals on iVantage Health Analytics’ Hospital Strength INDEX®. To be named to the Top 100 hospital list means the hospital outperformed its peers on each pillar of the hospital INDEX measure. The INDEX is the industry’s most comprehensive rating of rural providers. It measures hospitals across eight areas of hospital strength: Inpatient Share Ranking, Outpatient Share Ranking, Cost, Charge, Quality, Outcomes, Patient Perspectives, and Financial Stability.

In addition, JRMC Quality and Risk Manager Jenna Bredahl said JRMC performed well in all areas of the analysis. But, specifically performed well in clear patient/doctor communication.

“JRMC is dedicated to exceeding our patients’ expectations and a difference in their lives. This is certainly demonstrated by our patients’ voice. Their voice gave our nursing and doctor communication 5 stars,” said Bredahl.

The INDEX measurement was designed as a model and analysis for critical access hospitals to model and measure their performance.

JRMC Chief Nursing Officer Trisha Jungels says that JRMC consistently works to exceed industry standards. And, one example of that is through exceptional patient care.

“Our healthcare community certainly empowers nurses and providers to work closely together. And, they do this to provide consistent care. The end result is exceptional patient health outcomes,” said Jungels.

Finally, JRMC has won this award in 2014, 2015, 2016, and now 2017.
